Inspired by this X, though I wanted to focus more on the irony in how Hiccup and Toothless were crippled.

Hiccup shot Toothless, and Toothless mangled Hiccup’s leg - they both stole something vital to the other person, and it ended up bringing them closer together, cementing their bond.
