Hope this is passionate enough!
‘Relax Hic,’ Jack half laughed, leaning back on the picnic rug spread out on the grass, ‘I promise, there’s no one else here. Only us.’
Hiccup couldn’t help but glance around nervously, just in case there was a posse of kids gathered in the bushes nearby, waiting with their phones at the ready for some sort of slip up; for Jack to lull Hiccup into a false sense of security, perhaps lean in to kiss him and then burst out laughing at the gullibility of the nerd, at how he actually thought the most popular boy at school had some romantic interest him and now his embarrassing encounter would be a viral hit within a matter of hours.
Perhaps he was over thinking things. But still, he had every reason to. The extent people went to make him feel awful about himself was mind boggling.
‘I’m sorry,’ he muttered, fiddling with his sleeves, 'I just…I don't…’
'I understand,’ Jack sat up, edging closer to the taller boy, 'but I promise you, this isn’t a joke. I’ve never been more serious in my life about this. Now come on,’ he reached for one of the containers and waved it under the boy’s nose, 'I brought your favourite.’
Hiccup grinned slightly, ‘Jam doughnuts?’
'With extra sugar.’
Everything seemed to take a slow pace after that, as they sank their teeth into the pastries. It sweetened Hiccup up in no time and he found that he no longer cringed when Jack came near him, his doubt beginning to diminish until it was virtually non existent. They sat there, the two of them, on the hill where the view of the setting sun was beautiful to the naked eye and Jack felt the smaller boy leaning in, resting his head against his front hesitantly, awaiting approval. Jack didn’t move, so he leaned in closer, shifting so he was comfortable.
'You’re the only person who’s ever valued me, Jack,’ he almost whispered, his voice hardly there.
Jack rested a cheek against his hair, ‘that can’t be true. There must have been someone else. You’re an amazing person.’
'Nobody really. My dad doesn’t understand me, I haven’t got any friends in this place…there’s only you.’
He shut his eyes a moment, sighing, pressing his head further. Their hands reached for each other involuntarily and curled together.
'I want to do everything in the world with you Jack…’
These words sealed it. Jack reached over and took the boy’s chin between his thumb and forefinger, tilting his head up so he could reach his lips, which were still slightly coated with stray grains of sugar.
'Then I guess it’s you and me against the world…’ Jack replied and brought his newly beloved into a kiss that neither could seem to break away from.
The food on the blanket was swiftly forgotten; their appetite replaced with only their undying hunger for each other.
